Strawberry + Cream Steel Cut Oats {Instant Pot}

The Instant Pot has transformed my breakfast routine! I’m meal prepping with Instant Pot Frittatas on the weekdays and savoring Strawberries + Cream Steel Cut Oats on the weekends. The best part, I don’t even need to be in the kitchen when all this breakfast goodness is going down. That’s right! The Instant Pot does all the work! Just add the ingredients and set the timer….walk away and come back to a delicious home cooked hot breakfast.

Instant Pot Steel Cut Oats

How to Make Strawberries + Cream Steel Cut Oats

  1. Lightly grease the pot with coconut oil or butter.  Add steel cut oats, almond milk, water, vanilla extract and salt (if using) to pot and stir to combine.
  2. Lock the lid and set the vent to SEALING. Select MANUAL/PRESSURE COOK and cook for 5 minutes on HIGH PRESSURE. After oats have finished cooking, allow the Instant Pot to NATURALLY RELEASE ( about 15-20 minutes).
  3. Open lid carefully and stir the oats.  The oats may look slightly watery when you first open the lid (this is normal) once you give them a stir they will thicken up.
  4. In a small bowl mix Greek yogurt and honey. Add a small amount of water to thin yogurt and create a thick “cream” consistency. Serve oatmeal and top with yogurt “cream” and sliced strawberries. Drizzle with extra honey if desired.

Recipe Notes

Make sure to lightly grease the pot

Because oats are notorious for “foaming” when cooking, I’m recommending to lightly grease the sides and bottom of the Instant Pot with coconut oil or butter. Lightly greasing will help to keep the “foam” from climbing up the side of the Instant Pot, potentially clogging the pressure release valve. Plus, it helps keep clean up super simple.

For extra strawberry flavor

If you’d like even more strawberry goodness, you can stir sliced strawberries (fresh or frozen) into the Instant Pot at the same time you add oats, water and almond milk.

Or, add a dollop of strawberry jam along with the sliced strawberries and “cream” topping (or stir into oatmeal before topping with sliced strawberries and cream).

More info

For more info on making  steel cut oat in the Instant Pot check out this post  How to Make Perfect Instant Pot Steel Cut Oats . It addresses how to store/freeze steel cut oats, why to use non-dairy milk (vs. dairy milk) when making oats in the Instant Pot and more.

Add some crunch

Add in nuts, seeds, coconut, chocolate chips etc. if you want to add a little crunch to your oats.
